TV worth watching.

Chicken on the Tube - Dashboard Digital Agency Blog

A second posting about TV – you got me I still have cable! And thank goodness because it’s finally getting good. On channel 208 you can watch Swiss Chalet chickens cooking on a spit 24/7. It’s delicious. It’s the best ad I’ve seen in a long time.

While the Food Network has become all competitions and bad talking, this new station is pure unadulterated bbq chicken. As a marketing idea it is genius. Why bother with another TV spot of a family sitting down to dinner or making time together. No, let’s get right to the chicken. No music, or voice over, just the sounds of skin crackling as the birds gently roast. Every now and then a code pops up on the screen with a special delivery offer. Simple and apparently its hugely successful.

I give kudos to the agency who from what I heard, spent less on this idea than their TV budget. So they saved money and made something worth talking about. I mean why watch an infomercial after a late night out when you can watch heavenly roasted chickens.

I got a 1/4 chicken dinner the Sunday after I first saw the chicken channel on tv. Coincidence? Yeah, probably not.

Fries are key. They are essential for excess sauce cleanup.
