Sweet Networking

Last night while I dolled out handfuls of candy to Parkdale’s Trick ‘or Treaters I was reminded of an old-school viral tactic from my youth.

Back in my day, when we would troll the streets on Halloween, kids would share ‘hot tips’ as we passed each other in the night. Tips like who was handing out full cans of soda or movie theatre size chocolate bars. Young princesses would share info of giant gumballs to older Ninja Turtles. Kids from rival schools would let down their guard and help a fellow Trick ’or Treater out by singling out the house that’s giving out dental floss or those super hard taffy candies that only moms like.

Today we have like buttons and share links to tell our friends about what’s hot and what’s hilarious. While Foursquare and Yelp help us track down everything from deals to our friends. Back when were kids we kept it real and when we disliked something we kept it very real…by tossing eggs on houses. Is there an app for that?
