Signs…

Most of my co-workers are probably thinking that I’m going to go on a rant about my beliefs on Aliens. I’ll save that for a later post :)

As advertisers, we’re constantly scrutinizing everything we and our competitors do….whether this is online or offline. We can never look at any advertising or marketing the same once we’ve been in this industry for so long. We’re biased and we’re not forgiving. We constantly find ourselves asking, is there enough branding? Is this the right tone? Will our target pay attention to this? So many questions…and we start talking to ourselves, but I think this scrutiny is necessary.

Over the last couple of days I’ve witnessed a plethora of signage where no one asked any of these questions. In fact, I even question whether they looked at a proof or even re-read the copy.

Now, it may be a matter of cultural differences, or even part of their strategy. But the few examples that I’ve seen literally over the past week alone have stuck in my mind and given me a really good laugh so I wanted to share.


Learning? The next time you traffic that ad – remember these signs and take it as a sign to evaluate what you’re really putting out there.  In the meantime, send me your best examples!
