Hi-Five!

ING DIRECT hit a pretty big milestone this week. They reached $5 Billion in interest paid to their Canadian Savers. Yup you heard me right, $5 Billion. Pretty amazing. When we at Dashboard heard this number we were so psyched that we actually hi-fived each other. And so an idea was born.

Behold, Hi-Five for $5 Billion. How else do you announce and celebrate such a major landmark? With a hi-five of course. To bring it to life we cast the always, awesome ING DIRECT employees as our stars. Together we created interactive banner ads, digital billboard videos, and interactive touchscreen installations for the ING DIRECT Cafes.

Personally, I was really excited to take on this challenge and do my best to push the idea as much as possible. Using video seemed like a great way to do that. Although many sites use video, often there’s not much of a connection with the user and the video they’re watching. We wanted to bring the viewer in and interact with the ING Direct brand or ING DIRECT employees rather.

In our banners the ING DIRECT folks reach out and ask for a hi-five. Upon rollover the connection is made and the news is announced. Filming for these banners was really fun. Hi-fiving for 8 hours never got tiring. In fact the more we did it, the more fun we had.

All in all the day was a hit and the final work (in my opinion) is awesome. The folks from ING DIRECT did a wonderful job. The banners are live right now, so if you see them, don¹t leave us hanging, hi-five!
