This year I volunteered at The Santa Claus Parade. I’ve always admired those who devote so much time and effort at making the Parade such a special experience for everyone, I had to join the fun! Here’s my story.
Early in the morning, I met up with some wonderfully helpful volunteers, Frank and Pamela. Together with our spirits raised we embarked on our quest to spread merriment and joy. We had a very important job to do…sell red noses to help support next years Parade.
We began at the starting line where the floats stood bursting with life! The level of detail that goes into each one is truly incredible. Lots of families were there to get a glimpse at each masterpiece before they embarked on their journey through the streets of Toronto. Kids and parents alike were giddy with anticipation.
Once the Parade started, we made our way along the route, selling red noses to the happy crowd. Many tweeted their memories on the spot, others using our SantaParade iPhone App watched their iPhones frantically waiting for Santa to appear. The level of excitement and enthusiasm was contagious. It’s no wonder we ran out of noses in just one hour!
With not a nose left in sight, we joined in and watched the magic float by. The highlight of the day was no other than the big man himself – Santa. When his float passed by the crowd erupted with happiness. Not only was my nose red, but so were my cheeks from cheering so loud.
So what’s my favourite memory from the day? I remember loving every minute of it.
