It’s been a crazy couple months here at Dashboard, late nights, weekends and velour track suits. Site launches (The Grid, Winefox) and pitches seemed to happen every week and it was all hands on deck to get us through, and we finally made it. With everyone seeming to be living at the office we had an idea to throw a party to thank not only Dashboard employees but also their significant others who no doubt also felt what we had been called the “Rapture”. So in true Dashboard party fashion we decided what better way to say thank you than to order some food, put some drinks on ice and throw a rock concert in our office… yes, a rock concert in our office.
The first order of business was to promote our little event internally. Building off our musical theme and a favourite company pastime, we photoshopped staff members faces on to some album covers and post them throughout the office. The number of posters seemed to increase as the date got closer, mostly due to staff members acting on revenge.
Second order was talent, and we seem to have a lot of it here. The lineup was set, 2 live bands (my band who is still yet to be named… and Ralph Reefke and his boys, The Reconcilers.). We also opened up the floor to anyone who wanted to participate, Gayle Lunn stepped up with a cover of the Lionel Richie classic, Hello (if you’ve worked here you’ve heard the developers sing it) and of Christmas party legend Thadeus Maximus once again showcased his best Michael Jackson moves to Billie Jean.
Rather than write about the event, see it for yourself as Dashboard rocks out, rapture style.
Some other notable mentions:
Adam – Best introductions, best sing-a-longs, most devil horns thrown in the air.
Kendrick & Aniesha – for documenting the evening
Yuko’s son – Amazing on the drums while the bands set up (I foresee loud noise in your future)
Ted, Dave and Sapp – Backing vocals for Friday
Barry & Daryl – A big thanks for letting us have a rock show in the office, I mean how awesome is that!
