It’s nothing a Freezie won’t fix.

Freezies - Dashboard Hot Mess - Dashboard Brand Engagement Agency

“It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!”

We’ve all heard it, we’ve all accepted that there’s nothing we can do about it, and we scurry about the streets of Toronto looking for the next air-conditioned oasis.

As I type this we’re experiencing a good old fashioned Ontario heat wave, lots of high temperatures, the Humidex through the roof and you need 80 sunblock just to keep from burning to a crisp. There’s no end in sight and we start that collective moan about our predicament. We’re really not a hardy bunch when you consider what we put up with the other 9 months of the year.

I went to www.theweathernetwork.com to do some digging. If you take out June, July and August we spend the better part of our year in average temperatures ranging from -4.2 Celsius to 14.2 Celsius. Our average precipitation here in the Big Smoke ranges from 50mm to 83mm for that same span of months. Factor in wind-chill and we spend A LOT of time in miserable weather.

If you do recall we were “fortunate” enough to get Vancouver’s weather for most of May and June really let us down. That leaves July and August to really deliver the goods. Oddly enough once the heat hits we quickly forget how lousy our weather was before summer dropped and begin evasive manoeuvres to avoid it at all costs.

I love that we will drop a thousand bucks on a Canadian Goose Down jacket in the winter to keep us from freezing to death but will put up with office spaces that are so frigid from nonstop air conditioning that our teeth are chattering. We’ll retreat to our basements – turning our dens into make shift bedrooms until after Labour Day – just to avoid those muggy nights.

IT’S SUMMERTIME! Get outside! The window is already closing and we’re becoming shutins.

There are always great ways to stay cool and be outside, hit a local pool, go to the beach, find a nice shady park or fire up a sprinkler and run through it like you used to when you were 7. There’s free vitamin D to be had and a dose is always good for the soul. If you’re working and those aren’t an option stop by our office, we always have Freezies in the freezer!

Imagine if you, or I, had a REAL job (e.g., ditch digger). Suddenly a little heat is ok w/ me.

Well said... yes, "get outside". The window is very short up here in Tahoe too, so you have to enjoy the outdoors even with a heat-wave. Fortunately we don't have the humidity you all have.

Uh.... freezies are vegan? There just seems to be something wrong about eating consciously healthy but then adding pure sugar sweets in the mix. :)
