A few weeks back Leslie from Extreme Music popped in for a visit. Extreme Music is a wicked music house based in NYC. They have every style of music and musicians and the thing I like the most is that they have really amazing live help. So in times of need (and when aren’t there), super cool, super knowledgeable staff can help out instantly either via phone or through live chat on their site. Just send them a reference and they’ll search their massive catalogues. In my experience they’ve gone way above and beyond helping us find our perfect track. They actually seem like people you’d want to hang out with. Leslie certainly is.
For me searching and explaining music has always been one of the toughest parts of this job. You always have a an idea of the type of music your spot needs, but you don’t know if it is right until you see picture paired with sound. Even then it’s all very subjective. That’s why I like to work with people who know music inside-and-out. So if I say, I’m thinking Feist, they’ll say, have you tried Jazz or even dance hall. It pays to be open-minded. A different track can totally change your idea for the best.
So what’s with the guns? Leslie was sweet enough to give us 2 Nerf Dart Guns as a gift. I’m not alone when I say, “they rule!”.
