A Bit of Tech to Boost Your Workouts

Getting fit is hard, but staying fit is even harder, especially without the right information, proper tools, and most importantly, the continued inspiration. I’ve been trying to lose weight and gain some muscles for a few years now, but I’ve only recently begun to see progress thanks to a bit of advice from the right people, and some help from simple, but powerful websites and apps.

After working out for a while and not seeing the results I wanted, I spoke to a trainer at my gym who recommended some websites to find a routine that suited my goals. I found a few sites like bodybuilding.com; muscleandstrength.com; and beachbody.com; all of which had great information on workout routines, diet information, and how to go about exercise safely and more efficiently. The websites also recommended and even provided printable workout logs to track your progress. The information on these sites gave me everything I needed to start seeing the results I wanted, but after a few months you can only imagine how much paper I had used. I needed to find a better solution to tracking and organizing my progress.

I started asking around, and people at the office and discovered productivity apps like Noteshelf, Penultimate, Goodnotes, and Notability. The key feature that all these apps have in common is they let you use a customizable background, like a pdf or a picture, and allows you to handwrite or type words onto the background.

These apps turned out to be the perfect alternative to printing logs, and they helped me track my progress on my iPad while at the gym. Since I had my IPad on me while I was working out, I could access the body building websites at any time to remember or change my routine, view instructional videos, while being more eco-friendly along the way.

Getting fit is easier if you combine the information from the fitness websites with the convenience of productivity apps. They made my workouts more efficient and productive, and most importantly, helped keep my motivated to stick to a schedule and work out more consistently.
